Welcome to BlockMap (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information when you use our website, services, and integrations, including the BlockMap Support Discord Bot (collectively, the “Service”).

BlockMap is a directory platform that allows users to discover and list cryptocurrency-related communities on third-party platforms such as Discord, Reddit, Twitch, YouTube, and Telegram, and to sign in using accounts from supported third-party platforms.

This Privacy Policy also applies to information processed through the BlockMap Support Discord Bot and the Discord API.

1. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide

We may collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Account details, such as username and email address
  • Profile information
  • Community listings, including descriptions, links, tags, and images
  • Reviews, votes, and other activity you choose to submit
  • Communications with us

b) Information from Third-Party Login Providers

When you log in via third-party platforms such as Discord, Reddit, Twitch, YouTube, or Telegram, we may receive:

  • Username and display name
  • Email address, if provided by the platform
  • Profile image
  • Unique user ID associated with that platform

The data we receive depends on the platform, your privacy settings, and the permissions granted during authentication.

c) Information from Discord

When the BlockMap Support Discord Bot is installed in a Discord server, we may receive or process information made available through Discord's APIs. Depending on the features enabled for a server, this may include:

  • Discord server IDs and basic server information
  • Discord user IDs and basic member information
  • Server membership and role information
  • Presence information, such as whether members are online
  • Channel IDs and channel configuration
  • Role IDs and role configuration
  • Message content from channels specifically configured for announcement mirroring
  • Information required to perform voting-related features, such as assigning a configured Voter role or recording a vote in a configured vote-log channel

More information about how this data is used is provided in Section 2.

d) Automatically Collected Information

When you use the BlockMap website, we may automatically collect:

  • IP address
  • Device type and browser information
  • Pages visited and interactions
  • Referring URLs
  • Timestamps and usage data

e) Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in
  • Remember preferences
  • Analyze usage and improve the Service

You can control cookies through your browser settings.

2. Discord Bot and Discord API Data

BlockMap operates the BlockMap Support Discord Bot to connect participating Discord communities with their BlockMap listings.

Server owners or administrators choose whether to install the bot and configure its optional features.

Depending on the features enabled for a Discord server, the bot may process the following Discord API Data.

Server Ownership and Configuration

The bot may process Discord server information, server IDs, channel IDs, role IDs, and related configuration data in order to:

  • Verify control or ownership of a Discord community listed on BlockMap
  • Associate a Discord server with the correct BlockMap community
  • Store the channels and roles selected by server administrators for bot features
  • Operate and maintain the Discord integration

This configuration data may be retained for as long as the relevant Discord integration remains configured or as otherwise necessary to provide the Service.

Server Members and Roles

The bot may access Discord member and role information where necessary to provide its functionality.

This may include processing member information to support server statistics and role-related features.

For example, when a BlockMap user votes for a community and is eligible for a Discord Voter role, the bot may use the user's Discord ID and the server's configured role information to assign that role.

BlockMap does not use Discord member information to build behavioral profiles of Discord users or to track relationships between Discord users.

Presence and Online Member Counts

The bot periodically processes Discord presence information to determine approximately how many members of a participating Discord server are currently online.

The resulting aggregate online-member count may be displayed publicly on the community's BlockMap listing.

Individual presence information is used only as necessary to calculate or update this aggregate statistic and is not used by BlockMap to create individual activity histories or behavioral profiles.

BlockMap may retain the resulting aggregate server statistics as necessary to display and maintain community information.

Announcement Channels and Message Content

A Discord server owner or administrator may explicitly configure one or more Discord channels as announcement channels for the BlockMap integration.

When this feature is enabled, the bot may access message content posted in those configured channels so that announcements can be mirrored or published as News content on the associated BlockMap community listing.

Depending on the content of an announcement, the information processed may include:

  • Message text
  • Author information necessary to process the announcement
  • Message timestamps
  • Links
  • Embeds
  • Attachments or references to attachments
  • Other content included in the configured announcement message

The bot does not require message content from unrelated Discord channels for this feature. Message content access is used for channels that have been specifically configured for announcement mirroring and for other functionality that genuinely requires access to that content.

When an announcement is published on BlockMap, the resulting News content may be stored on BlockMap as part of the community listing. Such content may therefore remain available independently of the original Discord message until it is removed from BlockMap or is no longer required.

Discord users or authorized community representatives may contact us to request the removal of personal data contained in mirrored content.

BlockMap does not use Discord message content to train machine learning or artificial intelligence models.

Vote-Related Features

Participating communities may configure the bot to provide voting-related functionality.

Depending on the server's configuration, BlockMap may process a Discord user ID and related information in order to:

  • Assign or remove a configured Voter role
  • Determine whether a Discord-related voting feature should be applied
  • Send information about a vote to a Discord channel specifically configured as a vote-log channel

We only process information necessary to perform these features.

Use of Discord API Data

Discord API Data is used only to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the functionality described in this Privacy Policy.

We do not:

  • Sell Discord API Data
  • License Discord API Data
  • Provide Discord API Data to data brokers or advertising networks
  • Use Discord API Data to create advertising profiles
  • Use Discord API Data to make decisions concerning employment, insurance, credit, housing, or similar eligibility matters
  • Use Discord message content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models

Discord API Data may be processed by service providers that assist us in operating BlockMap, such as infrastructure or hosting providers, where necessary to provide the Service and subject to appropriate data protection requirements.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information collected through the Service to:

  • Provide and operate BlockMap
  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Display and manage community listings
  • Operate the BlockMap Support Discord Bot
  • Verify control or ownership of participating communities
  • Maintain Discord integration settings
  • Display aggregate community statistics, such as online-member counts
  • Mirror configured Discord announcements as BlockMap News
  • Provide voting, vote-log, and Discord role functionality
  • Improve and optimize the platform
  • Communicate with users, including for support and service-related updates
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Protect the integrity and security of the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use personal data for purposes that are incompatible with those for which it was collected unless permitted by applicable law.

4. Legal Basis for Processing for EEA Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process personal data where we have an appropriate legal basis.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • Consent, where you have given us permission to process information for a particular purpose
  • Performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide services you have requested
  • Legitimate interests, where processing is necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or improve BlockMap and its integrations, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests
  • Legal obligations, where processing is necessary for us to comply with applicable law

For Discord communities that choose to install and configure the BlockMap Support Discord Bot, our legitimate interests may include operating the requested integration, maintaining accurate community information, providing aggregate community statistics, and enabling community features selected by the server's administrators.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we seek to limit processing to information reasonably necessary for the relevant functionality.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help us host, secure, maintain, or operate BlockMap
  • Third-party authentication providers where necessary for authentication
  • Discord where necessary to interact with Discord's services and APIs
  • Authorities, courts, or regulators where required by law
  • Other users where information is intentionally public, such as public profiles, community listings, reviews, community statistics, or published News content

Service providers that process personal data on our behalf are permitted to use that data only as necessary to provide their services to us and subject to applicable contractual and legal requirements.

Discord API Data is not shared with advertising networks, data brokers, or other advertising or monetization services.

6. Third-Party Platforms

BlockMap integrates with third-party platforms such as Discord, Reddit, Twitch, YouTube, and Telegram.

Use of these third-party services is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

BlockMap is responsible for its own processing of personal data received through these integrations, but we do not control the independent privacy practices of the third-party platforms themselves.

Installing or interacting with the BlockMap Support Discord Bot does not change Discord's own collection or processing of data under Discord's policies.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to:

  • Provide and operate the Service
  • Maintain accounts and community listings
  • Operate configured integrations
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes
  • Prevent fraud or abuse
  • Enforce our agreements

Different types of information may be retained for different periods depending on their purpose.

For Discord API Data in particular:

  • Presence information is processed as necessary to calculate aggregate online-member statistics and is not retained for the purpose of creating individual presence histories.
  • Aggregate online-member statistics may be retained as necessary to provide and maintain community statistics.
  • Discord server, channel, and role configuration data may be retained while the relevant Discord integration or feature remains configured.
  • Discord user IDs and member-related information are retained only where and for as long as necessary to provide the applicable BlockMap or Discord integration functionality.
  • Announcement message content published as BlockMap News may be retained as part of the public community listing until that content is removed, the community or authorized representative requests its removal, or retention is no longer necessary for the Service.
  • Data no longer required for the functionality for which it was obtained will be deleted, anonymized, or otherwise removed from active processing unless retention is required by law.

If the BlockMap Discord integration for a server is removed or disabled, we may delete configuration and other Discord API Data that is no longer necessary to provide the Service.

Removal of the bot from a Discord server does not necessarily result in the automatic removal of public content that was previously published on BlockMap, such as News articles. Such content can be removed separately by an authorized community representative or through a valid deletion request.

We may retain limited information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

8. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Restrict processing
  • Object to certain processing
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with an applicable data protection authority

These rights may be subject to limitations under applicable law.

You may request deletion of your BlockMap account and associated personal data at any time.

You may also contact us if you are a Discord user and wish to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data obtained through the BlockMap Support Discord Bot.

When making a request concerning Discord data, providing your Discord user ID and the relevant Discord server may help us identify the information associated with your request. We may request additional information where reasonably necessary to verify your identity and prevent unauthorized deletion or disclosure.

Where applicable, we will delete or update Discord API Data when requested by the relevant user, when requested by Discord, or when retaining the data is no longer necessary for the functionality for which it was obtained, unless we are required by law to retain it.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

Discord API Data stored by BlockMap is protected using appropriate security measures, including encryption at rest and appropriate protections for data transmitted between systems.

Access to non-public personal data is limited to systems and persons that require access for legitimate operational purposes.

However, no internet-based service or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

BlockMap is not intended for individuals under 18.

We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children through BlockMap accounts.

Because the BlockMap Support Discord Bot may operate in third-party Discord servers, some information made available to the bot through Discord may relate to server members who have not created a BlockMap account. We do not intentionally use the bot to obtain information from individuals where doing so would violate applicable age or data-protection requirements.

If you believe personal data relating to a child has been processed improperly, please contact us so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, delete the information.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to or processed in countries outside your country of residence where data protection laws may differ.

Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal data.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to BlockMap, our integrations, legal requirements, or our data-processing practices.

When we make changes, the updated version will display a new Effective Date.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

14. Additional Notes on Authentication

When you use a supported third-party service to sign in to BlockMap through OAuth or another authentication mechanism:

  • We request only the permissions and information needed for authentication, account creation, account linking, or functionality you explicitly enable.
  • Information received during third-party authentication may include your username, display name, email address, profile image, and unique account identifier, depending on the provider and permissions granted.
  • We do not access private messages or unrelated message content as part of the authentication process.
  • You can revoke BlockMap's authentication access through the applicable third-party account settings where that functionality is provided.

Discord authentication and the BlockMap Support Discord Bot are separate integrations.

Signing in to BlockMap using Discord OAuth does not itself give BlockMap access to your Discord message content, presence, or server membership information beyond the permissions associated with the authentication process.

Separately, when the BlockMap Support Discord Bot is installed in a Discord server, the bot may process Discord API Data as described in Section 2. This may include member information, presence information, and message content from administrator-configured announcement channels where required to provide the bot's features.

The bot's access to this information is governed by the permissions and Discord Gateway Intents enabled for the bot, the configuration selected by participating server administrators, this Privacy Policy, and applicable Discord policies.
