Introducing Obsidian Core (OSD) β High-Speed UTXO Settlement Infrastructure by Cygnusium LLC
@everyone
As the CygnusPay and Cygnusium ecosystem continues to expand, our engineering focus has always been on building real, self-hosted financial infrastructure rather than chasing market hype.
Today, we are introducing Obsidian Core (OSD) β a dedicated Layer-1 UTXO settlement protocol engineered by Cygnusium LLC specifically for high-frequency money movement, point-of-sale throughput, and CPU-level decentralization.
How Obsidian Fits Alongside Cygnus Coin (CNS)
A common question when an organization introduces new infrastructure is how it relates to existing networks. Obsidian does not replace Cygnus Coin (CNS), nor is it a "second token."
In enterprise payment architecture, different layers solve different technical requirements:
- Cygnus Coin (CNS) remains our primary flagship asset and the core pillar of the Cygnus community and ecosystem.
- Obsidian (OSD) is purpose-built UTXO settlement technology β engineered strictly as a pure payment rail and developer settlement layer. It is not an investment token, has no public exchange listing roadmap, and exists solely to process fast, deterministic UTXO transactions inside our infrastructure stack.
Building and maintaining our own dedicated UTXO rail allows CygnusPay and Cygnusium services to settle transactions in seconds without relying on congested third-party networks or ASIC-dominated chains.
Key Technical Specifications of Obsidian Core
- 30-Second Block Target: Rapid confirmation finality built for checkout and microtransaction speed.
- CPU-Only Consensus (Yespower 1.0): Memory-hard proof of work (
2 MBL3 cache footprint per thread,"Obsidian"custom salt) so any standard desktop or laptop can validate and mineβzero ASICs, zero gatekeepers. - LWMA-1 + Emergency Difficulty Adjuster (EDA): Per-block difficulty retargeting across a 45-block window with automated anti-stall recovery so the rail never freezes.
- Bitcoin Core & Litecoin Lineage: Native Bech32 SegWit (
osd1q...), full UTXO coin control, deterministic C++17 daemon (obsidiand), Qt5 desktop wallet (obsidian-qt), and complete JSON-RPC tooling.
